公民館の臨時休館が4/12(日)まで延長されることになりました。
よって、FMECは4/3(金)及び4/10(金)も中止となります。
現時点での次回学習会は4/17(金)です。
4/17(金)の開催も状況を注視しながらの判断となりますので、改めて皆様へご連絡致します。
また、今週末日曜日(29日)に予定されていたフレディさん主催のお花見も、船橋市からのお花見自粛要請を受けて中止が決定しています。
度々の中止となり心苦しい限りですが、何卒ご理解頂けましたら幸いです。
Today, I was informed that the temporary closure of all community centers in the City of Funabashi will be extended to April 12th, meaning our meeting will be cancelled on April 3rd and 10th.
As a result, our next meeting is provisionally scheduled for April 17th.
I’ll keep you updated as to whether or not FMEC meetings will be held on April 17th and onwards.
In addition, the Cherry Blossom Viewing Party, which was organised by Freddie and scheduled for the coming Sunday, will also be cancelled due to the official request by the City of Funabashi that the residents refrain from hosting and participating in HANAMI events in this season.

船橋市内の全公民館が明日から3/15(日)まで臨時休館となりました。
よって、3/13(金)も中止となります。
3/20(金)は祝日で、もともと公民館の休館日ですので、現時点での次回FMEC学習会は3/27(金)となります。
3/27(金)の開催も状況を注視しながらの判断となりますので、改めて皆様へご連絡致します。
楽しみにして下さっていた皆さんには本当に申し訳ありませんが、何卒ご理解頂けましたら幸いです。
Today, it was announced that all the community centers in the City of Funabashi are temporarily closed from tomorrow to March 15th, meaning our meeting will be cancelled on Friday, March 13th.
March 20th is a national holiday, when community centers are normally unavailable.
As a result, our next meeting is provisionally scheduled on Friday, March 27th.

昨日発表された国によるイベントの自粛要請を考慮し、今週2/28と次週3/6の学習会及び食事会を中止とさせて頂くことと致しました。
3/13以降の開催については、状況を注視しながら判断し、改めて皆様へご連絡致します。
楽しみにして下さっていた皆さんには本当に申し訳ありませんが、何卒ご理解頂けましたら幸いです。
I regret to say that the meetings and dinner parties scheduled on February 28th and March 6th will be cancelled due to the official request by the national government that the nation refrain from hosting big events during these 2 weeks.
I’ll keep you updated as to whether or not FMEC meetings will be held on March 13th and onwards.
I would appreciate your understanding, and thank you for your cooperation.

O: Now, on an entirely different subject, some of us are going to go have a drink after work. Would you care to join us?
B: Oh, actually, I don’t touch alcohol, I mean, I don’t drink. If I have even a drop of wine, I get dizzy.
O: Don’t worry. We’ve all grown out of binge drinking. You can drink whatever you like. And at your own pace.
B: Who’s coming?
O: People around our age. Nobody from management. It’s nothing more than a chatty evening with friends, prattling on about who’s who, and who does what in the company, and other stuff like that. But you do learn something at times, I must say.
B: Sounds interesting. Okay, count me in.
O: Right. We meet at the employee’s entrance at 7:30.
B: Fine. See you later.

＜今週の英語ニュース＞Japan schoolgirls' physical abilities highest since 2008
全国の小学5年生と中学2年生の男女約213万人を対象にした全国体力テストの結果が発表されました。
これによると小学5年と中学2年の女子では過去最高の点数だったようです。
一方、握力テストとボール投げでは過去最低の点数だったのですが、どんなことが原因なんでしょうか？
Japan schoolgirls' physical abilities highest since 2008
Schoolgirls in Japan this year scored the highest average mark on record in nationwide physical performance tests that began in 2008, the Sports Agency said Friday.
Fifth and eighth graders are subject to the physical tests. Both groups of schoolgirls logged the highest-ever scores of 55.2 points and 49.0 points, respectively. In stark contrast, the average score for fifth-grade boys hit a record low of 53.8 points. Scores for eighth-grade boys averaged 41.8 points.
In a questionnaire survey, meanwhile, fewer schoolgirls said they do almost no physical exercise on a weekly basis. The proportion of those disliking physical exercise also fell.
By test item, average marks for both grip strength and ball throwing continued at the lowest levels for both boys and girls.
The results are believed to reflect in part situations in which fewer children now lift weights and play baseball, according to the agency.

みなさんは中学生時代、即興で英語を話す機会はありましたか？
政府は早ければ2019年、中学校において英語のスピーキングテストの導入を検討しているようです。
中学生時代にもしこの制度があったとしたら、今もっと英語がしゃべれていたかもしれませんね？
Japan's education ministry is considering ways to improve the English language ability of junior high school students. The ways may include requiring students to take new kinds of speaking tests.
The ministry plans to introduce a nationwide English examination as early as fiscal 2019. That exam will assess junior high school seniors on their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English.
To evaluate English speaking ability, which many Japanese are said to lack, the test may include a natural conversation with an examiner.
Students could also be asked to explain a randomly presented illustration in English.
Another test under consideration would require exam takers to express their opinion on a given issue with a set number of words.

Japan to keep taxes on beer, quasi-beer unchanged
みなさんは発泡酒や第三のビールをよく飲みますか？
政府は、発泡酒や「第3のビール」の増税を来年度は見送る方針としたようです。
ビールと同じ税率となった場合、発泡酒や第三のビールをよく飲む人にとっては死活問題になりかねませんね？
今週の英語ニュースではこれについて採り上げています。
The Japanese government and ruling coalition decided Friday to forego reform of taxes on beer and beer-like beverages in fiscal 2016 starting in April next year.
Taxes on beer and quasi-beer vary much, depending on malt content, ingredients and production methods. Currently, a tax of 77 yen per 350 milliliters is imposed on beer, 47 yen on "happoshu" quasi-beer with low malt content and 28 yen on "third-segment" beer-like beverages with little or no malt content.
The government and the ruling camp had considered diminishing the tax gaps in stages and introducing the uniform rate of around 55 yen in the future.
But they eventually decided to refrain from changing the existing beer tax regime for now, finding it necessary to take time to win consent from the industry and consumers, informed said, adding discussions on the new tax rates are likely to take place as part of work to overhaul Japan's taxation systems for fiscal 2017. 今年のユルキャラグランプリには昨年2位静岡県浜松市のキャラクターが輝きました。
浜松市で3日間にわたって行われていたゆるキャラグランプリは23日に閉幕しました。
全国各地からゆるキャラ300体が集まり、それぞれの出身地のPRに励みました。
Ieyasu-kun wins 2015 Yuru-Kyara Grand Prix
"Shusse Daimyo Ieyasu-kun," a loose mascot character, or "yuru-kyara," for the city of Hamamatsu in Shizuoka Prefecture was named the No. 1 yuru-kyara for 2015 on Monday.
Ieyasu-kun, named after Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, won the title in the final vote held during the three-day Yuru-Kyara Grand Prix event in the central Japan city, joined by a record 1,727 mascots from all over the country.
He garnered 6,953,461 votes, followed by "Mikyan" for Ehime Prefecture, western Japan, with 6,915,774 votes, and "Fukka-chan" for the city of Fukaya in Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, with 4,011,758 votes.
Ieyasu-kun came second in the preceding three-month online poll but scored an upset win in the three-day final ballot held at the outdoor event venue.

クックパッド社は11月12日2015年に生まれた赤ちゃんに、
どんな名前が多く付けられたかを発表しました。
皆さんは最近の赤ちゃんにどんな名前がつけられているか興味ありませんか？
The top baby names in Japan for 2015 revealed
A list of the top boys' and girls' names for newborn babies in Japan has been released, showing the trends for 2015.
(湊)Sou, Minato and Ichika are three different ways to read the kanji word for port or harbour and this is the name that topped the list for boys in 2015.
(蓮)Ren, which was the most popular name of 2014, has now found itself in third position, behind (樹)Itsuki and Tatsuki, two ways of pronouncing the same kanji name.
Meanwhile, in the list of girls' names there were several ties, with (さくら) Sakura, meaning cherry blossom, and (莉子) Riko, which translates as lavender child, at the top.
These floral monikers didn't make it into the top five last year and weren't even on the list in 2013, demonstrating how quickly trends can change.
Another flower, (葵)Aoi or hollyhock, appears at number three.
Some believe that the popularity of the Naruto manga series can be seen in the top names for both sexes, as Minato and Sakura are both characters in the anime.

Tokyo man accused of stealing Facebook underwear photos
A Tokyo man accused of accessing a woman's Facebook account and allegedly downloading pictures of her in her underwear has been arrested.
In what is being reported as Japan’s first such arrest, Ryosuke Koga, 25, allegedly logged into the victim’s Facebook account 17 times between January and March, a Metropolitan Police Department spokesman said.
The police quoted Koga as saying he committed the crime “to fulfill my sexual desire.”
Investigators also found that Koga, an employee of communications and office equipment distributor Hikari Tsushin Inc., allegedly had approximately 770 Facebook and iCloud IDs and passwords. Of these, they have identified users of 140 accounts, all but one of whom are women. They are trying to determine how he obtained the information.
